Space Forge is a fast growing advanced materials company. Our goal is to exploit the extreme temperature, microgravity and ultra-high vacuum conditions available in low earth orbit (LEO) to manufacture materials that cannot readily be grown terrestrially. Returning these materials to earth, we aim to revolutionise the semiconductor market and to make space work for humanity. To achieve this we have developed a range of technologies including the world’s first returnable and reusable satellite platform, the ForgeStar®.

We are looking to hire a skilled CNC Technician to join our growing Manufacturing team and take a key role in managing all of our CNC requirements.

Requirements

What will you do?

  • Operate CNC machines to perform machining operations according to specifications
  • Set up tools, fixtures, and workpieces for machining processes
  • Monitor and adjust machine settings to ensure accurate production
  • Inspect finished components to verify conformance to quality standards

Key responsibilities

  • Maintaining and troubleshooting the CNC machines to ensure optimal performance
  • Optimising machining processes – collaborate with engineers and technicians to continually improve the way we work with our machinery/equipment
  • Maintaining accurate documentation and production data regarding all machine maintenance activities
  • Adhering to safety procedures and maintain a clean working environment
  • Establishing a training process to support other team members with CNC activities

Your Profile

Technical skills:

  • Proven experience as a CNC Technician or similar role
  • Proficient in operating and maintaining CNC machines and related tools
  • Strong knowledge of machining processes and tooling
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Excellent attention to detail and manual dexterity
  • Good problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot machine issues
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and practices in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively

Soft skills:

  • Able to communicate with teams working both in and out of the office;
  • Able to communicate professionally with customers and external stakeholders;
  • Resilient and adaptable to technical and non-technical roadblocks, as many are expected

Salary range: £30,000 – £35,000 pending on knowledge, experience and skills

This role will be based mostly on site due to the hands-on requirements of the role.
