As a Material Handler, you will be responsible for providing logistical support for the movement, storage, control and protection of raw materials, supplies, work in process products and finished products. This position requires exceptional attention to detail, sound judgment and decision-making abilities, and the ability to multitask. Excellent customer service skills and a strong knowledge of raw materials used in the assembly/manufacturing of aerospace vehicles.
Position is located at Gateway to Space (GTS) – New Mexico
Responsibilities
- Inspect freight upon arrival, document any signs of damage, and resolve freight claims in a timely manner.
- Responsible for inbound receiving. Accurately receive all inbound deliveries into ERP system and maintain records of all receipts in compliance with VG requirements.
- Visually monitor inventory levels and communicate low levels to buyers, schedulers, and others as necessary.
- Complete inventory transactions to receive and issue inventory as required.
- Operate lift trucks, pallet jacks, and other equipment to move parts to proper locations and load/ offload freight trucks as required.
- Assure FIFO and material identification are maintained
- Properly identify and locate all parts according to established procedures
- Maintain accurate inventory, performing cycle counting, and physical inventory of stock and assist with developing actions to correct inventory problems.
- Perform accurate transactions in ERP system for issuing materials to appropriate cost center projects & ensuring proper authorization is received for high-cost materials
- Verify all incoming documentation and applicable certifications are correct
- Responsible for timely delivery of all packages that include stock and non-stock items. Interact with internal stakeholders to resolve errors and inconsistencies in shipment files
- Work cohesively with Procurement and Production Control personnel to ensure on-time delivery of material and products to meet customer needs
- On-going improvement of processes for shipping, receiving, kitting, and cycle counting
- Responsible for on-time delivery of all kits & material components to internal and external manufacturing locations.

Required Skills and Experience
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- 2+ years’ experience in Supply Chain environment
- Experience in high technology, advanced materials or aerospace industries preferred
- Good written/verbal communication skills, strong analytical skills
- Strong experience with material movement and computerized inventory management (Oracle preferred)
- Familiar with working with freight delivery companies (FedEx, UPS, trucking companies, door to door expedited delivery companies, etc.).
- Physically able to unpack, pack, lift, and transport boxed items weighing up to 50 pounds
- Able to operate a manual pallet jack and move loaded skids weighing up to 200 pounds
- Able to operate a lift truck is a plus, but not a requirement – training will be provided
- Familiar with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
- Familiar with use of e-mail, including sending attachments
- Effective organizational skills in dealing with incoming, outgoing, & customer owned products
- Able to successfully keep multiple tasks running simultaneously
- Works well with people, both internally and externally, and at all levels of the organization
- Able to prioritize and consistently meet deadlines
- Ability to communicate effectively via the phone, email, etc.
- Self-starter with a willingness to learn new things
- Able to provide constructive feedback and creative solutions to problems
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to hold and maintain a valid Driver’s License

The annual U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $47,840.00–$66,560.00. The base pay actually offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, location, and experience and take into account internal equity. Other forms of pay (e.g., bonus or long term incentive) may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
