Our mission-driven team is seeking a bold and dynamic Industrial Designer who is fueled by problem-solving, continuously curious, and driven to understand our world, science/technology, and life itself, for the benefit of all on Earth and beyond.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

* Implements design practices in an engineering environment.
* Completes anthropometric driven design.
* Determines psychological and physiological design requirements.
* Provides concept and product development.
* Enhances the safety, comfort, and usability of designs.
* Fabricates prototypes, mockups, and models.
* Creates usability test plans.
* Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to understand design challenges.
* Provides mentorship to the industrial design team.
* Leads design reviews.
* Performs other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

* Bachelor’s degree in industrial design or related field
* 10+ years’ experience in industrial design, product design, transportation design, or equivalent (aerospace experience a plus) or an equivalent combination of education and experience
* Design thinking
* Strong understanding of human factors and ergonomics
* Ability to conduct in-depth research and user testing
* Keen sense of aesthetics (Color/Material/Finish)
* CAD Skills – Solidworks, Rhino, KeyShot, Blender
* Strong presentation skills – PowerPoint, Miro, Photoshop, Illustrator
* Proficient demonstration of designs through sketching, rendering, and modeling
* Proficient use of hand and power tools
* Knowledge of materials, fasteners, and manufacturing processes
* Operation of 3D Printers, Laser Cutters, Vinyl Cutters, and CNC Routers is a plus

Essential Functions

Work Environment: Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.

Requirements

* Must be able to complete a U.S
government background investigation.
* Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised.
* Proof of U.S
Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.

Physical Requirements

* Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time).
* May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs
(5% of the time).

* Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).
