At Maxar Space, our products are vast: from our World View Legion (WVL) platform for earth observation, to the Power and Propulsion Element (PPE) supporting NASA’s Artemis Program return to the Moon, to our highly reliable 1300/Legion class platform for communications applications.

We are now also designing the next generation of earth imaging satellites and proliferated LEO constellations. Maxar is currently seeking an experienced Systems Engineering Integration and Test Engineer with spacecraft vehicle SEIT expertise for Maxar’s World View Legion program, an agile, high-accuracy imaging mission and product line. Particular expertise is required in systems engineering with experience in system integration, test, verification and validation.

As a program SEIT Engineer, you would apply your systems integration and test expertise to ensure system performance is compliant to contract requirements. You would consult with other systems engineers during the verification campaign and provide general systems engineering guidance to the test teams.

We are currently seeking candidates with broad space-based engineering backgrounds in mission planning, operations, Command & Data Handling Systems (C&DH), Software Systems, Guidance/Navigation/Controls, Propulsion, Power Systems, or RF/Communication Systems.

This role will be performed in our Palo Alto, California or our Westminster, Colorado facility.

Specifically, you will be responsible for participating on teams that accomplish the following:

  • Support system requirements decomposition & flow-down activity to ensure testability
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with multi-disciplinary engineering teams on verification and validation topics
  • Execute program verification approaches and recommend improvements
  • Ensure requirement verification method and approach is appropriate and reasonable
  • Develop and maintain verification plans, scripts, and reports
  • Plan and execute assigned verification activities
  • Analyze data and report test results, including authoring test reports and establishing verification traceability to requirements and architecture
  • Perform necessary troubleshooting for assigned spacecraft anomalies
  • Ensure on-time delivery of assigned test artifacts to the customer
  • Update metrics of progress on verification activities

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline. Four additional years of experience may be substituted for a degree.
  • Minimum of 4 years of systems engineering experience. A master’s degree may be considered as two years of experience
  • Experience in space technologies and mission operations
  • Systems Engineering experience on a system of systems
  • Professional written, verbal, presentation, and executive communication skills
  • Systems engineering background including familiarity with requirements definition and requirements verification
  • Prior experience in Systems Integration and Testing, System Verification, or Software Verification on a large-scale program
  • Proficiency in MSOffice Suite including Teams
  • Understanding of spacecraft design and product life cycle
  • Ability to author analysis documentation suitable for verification artifacts

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with NASA, DoD, or FAA Program Management, Software Engineering, or Systems Engineering standards
  • MS degree or PhD in a special field of Engineering or Science
  • Experience with requirements management systems (i.e. DOORS, JAMA, etc.)
  • Experience with satellites and satellite industry, including government civil or defense and intelligence programs
  • Experience with software development standards and development methodologies
  • Familiarity with embedded flight code design
  • Experience in agile development methodologies
  • Expert with extensive practical and theoretical experience in systems modeling, simulation, system architectures
  • Previous experience in Cost Account Management (CAM) or Earned Value Management System (EVMS)
  • Familiarity with milestone reviews (e.g., Preliminary Design Review, Critical Design Review)
  • Risk Management familiarity
  • Basic knowledge of model-based systems engineering (e.g., CATIA or MagicDraw)

Our salary ranges are market-driven and set to allow for flexibility. Individual pay will be competitive based on a candidate’s unique set of knowledge, skills, and geographic diversity, with earnings potential commensurate with experience. The range for this position is:
$113,000.00 – $189,000.00 annually.
