SUMMARY
Firefly Avionics Production Technicians work closely with the Avionics and Integration teams in the design, build, integration, and test of fully functional space launch rockets, satellites, and landers. This work primarily includes the assembly of avionics harnesses and associated flight hardware. We are hiring for a range of experience levels from entry level to highly experienced and we encourage all interested candidates to apply. The compensation and responsibilities will be adjusted to match the experience level and abilities of the candidate.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Fabricate and assemble high quality, high reliability wire harnesses and electro-mechanical assemblies
- Ensures that all work performed is properly and completely documented in preparation for QA inspection
- Demonstrates effective harness repair techniques using acceptable practices including splicing, soldering, and pinning of wiring
- Read and interpret planning documents, process controls, schematics, wiring diagrams, specifications, drawings, manuals, blueprints, and engineering sketches
- Provide feedback to engineering on quality, discrepancy identification and manufacturing and design improvements
- Comply with the company FOD program, tool control program, 5-S program, and all safety regulations
- Self-monitor work progress against area benchmarks and achieve on time delivery of all work
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Demonstrates basic technical skills in electro-mechanical assembly
- Excellent concentration and attention to detail with first-rate work efficiency and accuracy
- Industry experience related to harness assembly including wire preparation, connector termination and assembly, soldering, and layup
- Must have the dexterity and ability to perform hands on harness assembly for extended periods of time
- Basic computer skills with the ability to use e-mail and associated MS office programs
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and teamwork skills
Desired
- 2+ years related work experience; or 2 years of accredited schooling in aviation electronics or a related field
- Experience in a fast-paced, constant-changing production environment with flight hardware
- Military and/or civilian aircraft production experience
- Knowledge of industry standards (i.e. – IPC/WHMA-A-620, IPC-610, IPC-J-STD-001) and associated assembly techniques (i.e. – crimping, soldering, wire preparation)
