Job Summary
As the Command and Data Handling Team Manager, you will, you will lead subsets of the company’s Command and Data Handling (CDH) team as a point of contact for technical, budget and resource allocation issues to meet team members’ needs, customer requirements, and company goals.

This position’s internal job code is EE Engineering Manager. Our team is currently hiring for level K.

Responsibilities
You will be responsible for managing staffing the team, developing internal team processes, providing staff to support program SV developments. You and your team will be responsible for developing maintaining the SV command and data handling architectures for our various SV buses. Your team will be responsible for technical solutions along with maintaining cost and schedule inputs to the programs you are supporting. Your team will coordinate closely with products, harnessing, and flight software to develop common and forward leaning SV CDH architectures. You will coordinate with other engineering teams, programs, and products to provide staff, solve technical tasks, resolve discrepancies, and improve internal processes to support our spacecraft missions. Other duties to include:

  • Continuously Improve our command and data handling team and processes
    • Develop and update our current development process to:
      • Clearly define our command and data handling workflow including
  • Well defined development schedule templates
  • Key artifacts, reviews, and deliverables
    • Define those key artifacts, reviews, and deliverables
  • Develop tools to provide cost and schedule inputs to command and data handling development planning
    • Develop metrics to track command and data handling development progress
    • Develop metrics to better track cost and schedule impacts on key CDH trades
    • Develop and flow requirements for new or updated CDH products to the products team
    • Update our AS9100 documentation to capture our product development workflows
  • Mentor, train, motivate, and develop CDH staff
    • Motivate and support team
    • Help to resolve problematic situations or employees, elevating to Director and/or HR as required
    • Advocate for the team
    • Meet with team members as a whole frequently, as individuals slightly less frequently
    • As required, communicate company activities, decisions, and events
  • Manage CDH team and staff including personnel reviews, tasking, and work scope
    • Coordinate with other Team Leads
    • Ensure processes, practices, and standards are adopted and any changes documented
  • Identify, communicate, and assist in the risk management process
    • Promote knowledge sharing and peer review
  • Assign CDH staff to programs and products and evaluate technical performance
    • Conduct new hire reviews and semi-annual performance reviews
    • Recommend promotions and annual raises
    • Allocate individuals based on needs and skills available
  • Maintain documentation for current SV CDH Architectures including technical, schedule, and costing information to support proposals and programs
  • Work with the engineering organization, business development, programs, and manufacturing to develop a CDH roadmap that aligns to Millennium corporate objectives
    • Help define, refine, and improve our S/C architecture to reduce harnessing, improve commonality, interoperability, and ease of integration.
  • Work with hardware engineering director to develop, evaluate, and refine technical processes and standards for the CDH team.
  • Supporting proposal efforts to define the initial scope of the team
  • Work with engineering teams to work through discrepancies or design modifications
  • Other job duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Degree in electrical, computer, or other relevant engineering
  • Detailed knowledge of hardware and/or software
  • At least 4 years developing and manufacturing electronic assemblies, or similar experience
  • At least 2 years as an Responsible Engineering Authority, Project Lead, Control Account Manager, or equivalent
  • Methodical design, testing, and troubleshooting capabilities
  • Must be versatile and able to perform and manage multiple tasks concurrently
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance

Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only of what is reasonably expected to be paid for the position. Salaries are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary Pay-Range

  • Level K: $147,050 – $216,250
