Space Forge is a fast growing advanced materials company. Our goal is to exploit the extreme temperature, microgravity and ultra-high vacuum conditions available in low earth orbit (LEO) to manufacture materials that cannot readily be grown terrestrially. Returning these materials to earth, we aim to revolutionise the semiconductor market and to make space work for humanity. To achieve this we have developed a range of technologies including the world’s first returnable and reusable satellite platform, the ForgeStar®.

We are now looking to hire a Commercial Officer to join our growing Commercial and Procurement team. This is an outstanding opportunity for a talented and ambitious individual looking to build a career in a dynamic and fast-growing company. In this role, you will be responsible for:

Commercial Tasks

  • Assisting with commercial administration activities
  • Raising, issuing and registering NDA’s – both customer and supply-chain facing
  • Supporting bid preparations
  • Preparing requests for ROM information to support bid and proposal activities (i.e raising an early stage procurement plan)
  • Assisting with the preparation of contract changes and contract closure documentation

Export Control Tasks

  • Supporting Export Control/Trade Compliance team on routine tasks such as administering and filing EUUs, Customs Documentation, Export Control Licences etc
  • Assisting with the preparation and running of training courses and any other administrative activities, as required.

Procurement Tasks

  • Assisting with raising and issuing purchase orders for routine purchases that fall under a certain budget threshold (value TBC)
  • Supporting the end to end Procurement process, order acknowledgements through to delivery and invoice
  • Supporting our Functional and Technical Leads in identifying potential candidate suppliers, initial engagement on request for information activities (for both bids & projects)
  • Preparing request for information/proposal/quotation documentation packs, under the guidance of the Procurement Managers that include appropriately tailored T&Cs etc
  • Collating RFI/RFP/RFQ responses and prepare Space Forge evaluation reports in conjunction with Functional and Technical Leads

Requirements

Technical skills:

Essential –

  • Either 2:1 or 2:2 graduate, no specific subject, or with 1-2 years relevant work experience
  • Expected to be able to work out of the Cardiff / Bridgend site ~ 2-3 days a week

Soft skills:

  • Self-starter with proactive mindset and a willingness to learn
  • Literate and detail-conscious
  • Logical thinker
  • Inquisitive mind
  • Ability to demonstrate a flexible and co-operative approach towards changing business needs

Benefits

Salary range: £25,000 – £35,000 per annum, depending on knowledge, experience and skills
