FACILITIES

Rocket Lab’s Facilities team is responsible for maintenance, operations, and improvements projects across our locations, making sure that the facilities our teams use every day are well looked after and operating as they should.

EHS ENGINEER II/SENIOR EHS ENGINEER

Based at Rocket Lab’s headquarters in Long Beach, California, the EHS Engineer II/Senior EHS Engineer is responsible for the implementation, operation and maintenance of environmental health and safety programs. This role is for a hands-on person with great attention to detail and excellent people skills. You will support the EHS & Facilities Manager and Operations organization, with deliverables required for internal leadership, board of directors, and investors.

(Please note: this position can be hired at the EHS Engineer II or Senior EHS Engineer level)

WHAT YOU’LL GET TO DO:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain site specific Environmental Health & Safety policies.
    • Fall Protection Program
    • Lock Out/Tag Out Program
    • Hearing Conservation Program
    • Electrical Safety Program
    • SPCC/APSA
    • SWPPP
    • Hazardous Material/Waste Handling
  • Manage AQMD permitted equipment to include record keeping, permitting, annual inspections with SCAQMD.
  • Manage IWW permitted discharge points to include BMP’s, permitting, inspections with LACSD.
  • Conducts and/or coordinates employee safety, environmental training programs and emergency response training drills.
  • Responds to and investigates industrial accidents and injuries to determine causes and preventive measures.
  • Collaborates with management to complete job hazard analysis and PPE assessments.
  • Recommend process and product safety features that will reduce employees’ exposure to chemical, physical, and biological work hazards.

YOU’LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS AS AN EHS ENGINEER II:

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Chemistry or a related discipline
  • 2+ years of experience in operational oversight of environmental, health & safety disciplines
  • Knowledge of OSHA, CAL OSHA, EPA, NFPA regulations
  • Ability and willingness to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, crawl, and being able to maneuver in tight spaces.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods – 8 hours minimum.
  • Physically able to handle items weighing up to 25 lbs. (unassisted)
  • Experience with computer programs such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

YOU’LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS AS A SENIOR EHS ENGINEER:

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Chemistry or a related discipline
  • 5+ years of experience in operational oversight of environmental, health & safety disciplines
  • Knowledge of OSHA, CAL OSHA, EPA, NFPA regulations
  • Ability and willingness to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, crawl, and being able to maneuver in tight spaces.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods – 8 hours minimum.

THESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental, Chemical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering; Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Chemistry or a related discipline with 3 or more years of experience in operational oversight of environmental, health and safety disciplines
  • Strong knowledge and experience in interpreting, applying and documenting federal, state and local safety, transportation, and environmental regulations.
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
  • Aerospace or Manufacturing industry experience is preferred.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
  • Regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, operate computer keyboard and controls, and communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Must be physically able to commute to buildings
  • Occasional exposure to dust, fumes and moderate levels of noise.

The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the California Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.

Base salary is only one part of Rocket Lab’s compensation package for this role. Base Pay Range (CA Only)

$55,000—$125,000 USD
