The Role: Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) Lead

Your focus will be building world class EHS programs; building safety operating procedures, and executing EHS safety for our facility. This position is of strategic value and will be a core asset to Venus Aerospace.

What You’ll Get to Do: Build a culture of safety
  • Architect, implement, and maintain EHS compliance programs
  • Ensures we are compliant with relevant federal, state, and local regulations
  • Build, update, and coordinate emergency response plans with state and local emergency planning committees
  • Assess and identify the workplace for the presence of health, safety and environmental concerns and make recommendations to eliminate or control identified concerns
  • Evaluate operations for continuous process improvement and implementation of preventive action measures
  • Develop and support hazardous waste program and implementation
  • Support environmental permitting initiatives for our growing operations

Build safety knowledge
  • Provide training on safety programsInstruct new employees on our safety program
  • Partner with employees, and external stakeholders to implement EH&S programs
  • Coach and mentor employees at the site in safe work practices
  • Provide contractor EH&S oversight

Keep a culture of safety
  • Tracking reported incidents, injuries, near misses, and hazardsLead incident investigations to identify root causes and corrective actions
  • Conduct regular internal inspections and audits and provide recommendations for improvement
  • Track program progress, efficacy, and develop solutions to EH&S challenges

Be an advisor
  • Provide EH&S technical expertise on manufacturing, test, and operations systems, process design and operating procedures
  • Provide EHS subject matter expertise to engineering, production, and test resources

What You Have

  • Ability to meet ITAR requirements
  • Passion for continuous improvement of a safety culture and building agile safety processes
  • 7-10+ years’ experience developing, implementing, and managing EH&S programs
  • Bachelor’s degree is ideal but not required in lieu of equivalent, relevant experience
  • Experience in a hardware development and test environments
  • Possess a thorough understanding of federal, state, and local EH&S related regulations
  • Successful and effective delivery of health and safety training
  • Technical understanding of OSHA regulations
  • Experience with manufacturing and hazardous field (engine, flight) operations
  • Ability to manage contractors and consultants
  • Effective program and project management abilitiesAnalytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite

  • Experience in an aerospace manufacturing environmentCSP, CIH, or CHMM certification

Location:
This role is based on-site at Ellington Field in Houston, Texas. We will consider a remote option.
