Summary

NASA’s Johnson Space Center is seeking applicants to fill multiple positions located in Houston, TX or at the White Sands Test Facility in Las Cruces, NM. As a General Engineer, you will utilize engineering and scientific principles from a number of disciplines related to the technical management of NASA missions, functions, programs, or projects.

In addition to the Basic Education Requirement (in the Education section below), to qualify for this position you must meet the requirements below. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. NASA utilizes OPM-approved qualification and rating requirements specific for Aerospace Technology (AST) positions which recognizes NASA’s unique aerospace work. The specific qualifications and minimum education requirements are further described below and within the education section of the job announcement. To qualify for GS-12, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level: Supporting project management, hardware or software development, and/or hardware or software testing for space flight and/or aerospace applications; Working alone or within a team on the resolution of hardware or software problems, fabrication or test issues, procedural or policy issues, and/or operational issues; Assisting with budget or cost trade analyses, infrastructure improvement proposals, risk-based assessments, advocacy presentations and/or other aspects of strategic planning and operations. To qualify for GS-13, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level: Managing projects, hardware or software development, and/or hardware or software testing for space flight and/or aerospace applications; Supporting teams in the resolution of hardware or software problems at the component or system level, fabrication or test issues, procedural or policy issues, and/or operational issues; Analyzing budget or cost trade analyses, infrastructure improvement proposals, risk-based assessments, advocacy presentations and/or other aspects of strategic planning and operations.
