SUMMARY: Our team is looking for an energetic and dynamic Loads and Dynamics Engineer who will primarily be responsible for performing comprehensive loads analysis of spaceflight hardware during all phases of production and flight. This position reports to the Structural Analysis Manager. This role is onsite and will be based at our ASTC facility.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work in a collaborative engineering team environment to produce spacecraft structures for a commercial human spaceflight module.
- Conduct comprehensive loads analysis to determine the external forces and moments acting on space vehicles during all phases of flight.
- Perform dynamic loading analysis of spaceflight hardware for transportation/handling, launch, and on-orbit environments.
- Create finite element models of spacecraft structures and systems.
- Perform modal, frequency response, random vibration, transient and shock analysis.
- Develop and document scripts for postprocessing analysis results
- Uses appropriate analysis techniques, simplifications, assumptions, and experience-based judgments, to solve complex problems.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field required
- 10+ years of experience in loads and dynamics engineering, or similar role
- Proficient with Simcenter/NASTRAN finite element modeling software or equivalent
- Experience with modal, vibration and shock testing, from writing test plans, execution, and interpretation of results
- Experience with coupled loads analysis on launch vehicles
- Proficient with MATLAB, Python, or equivalent
- Experience with space launch vehicle environments preferred
- Spaceflight hardware analysis background preferred
- Experience with Atlassian suite preferred
Essential Functions
Work Environment: Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.
Requirements
- Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
- Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised.
- Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.
Physical Requirements
- Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).
