Job Description
Virgin Galactic is seeking a Project Manager Quality Leader for our Delta class spaceships. This individual will lead the Project Management within Quality organization to ensure performance objectives are being met or exceeded. Interfacing with the Delta Spaceship suppliers, supply chain, program management and engineering team will be a large portion of the work in the near term to meet the on-time delivery of products from Delta Spaceship suppliers.
The Project Manager Quality Leader will provide structure with the following individual accountabilities:
- Manages projects and processes to ensure overall quality is continuously improving.
- Ability to lead collaborative teams on tactical and strategic discussions to drive a results and breakdown barriers.
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials and components
- Oversees quality engineering tasks to enhance product quality and to ensure high reliability and proper performance per product requirements.
- Perform trend analyses of Quality Non-Conformance data to identify potential problem areas, evaluate corrective actions, and measure performance over.
- Continuously evaluate and improve production processes to increase efficiency and reduce waste
What you bring
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant Engineering, Quality, Operations, or hard science discipline
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience in aerospace or defense quality, supply chain and operations dealing with quality improvement programs and process techniques.
- Quality certifications are desired (FAA, ASQ CQE, AS9100, etc.)
- Experience with transition of programs from design to manufacturing.
- Expertise with quality assurance and continuous improvement tools, best practices, methods and approaches
- Hands on experience with technical standards and publications, understanding of aircraft type certification or experimental aircraft certification.
Preferred
- AS9100 Lead Auditor or equivalent certification.
- Application software – Dassault Systems 3DX, Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and EtQ
- Ability to administer the Material Review Board (MRB) system
- Ability to collect and collate large volumes of complex data
- Aircraft Design Assurance Standards knowledge
- Previous OEM aircraft manufacturing or overhaul operations experience
- Demonstrated and documented written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of and experience with FAA commercial space regulations is a plus
The annual U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $79,300.00–$121,000.00. The base pay actually offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, location, and experience and take into account internal equity. Other forms of pay (e.g., bonus or long term incentive) may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
