Software Engineer

Hydrosat is a space and data analytics company building a new Earth Observation constellation and software to unlock the power of thermal infrared imagery. Our mission is to capture and deliver high spatio-temporal resolution thermal infrared data, currently not available from other sources, to provide insights that benefit the environment, enhance food and water security, and serve other critical applications. Our downstream applications team in Luxembourg combines best-in-class remote sensing, machine learning, and cutting-edge fusion approaches to thermal imagery to deliver innovative and scalable solutions to the agri-food industry.

What you’ll do:

As a Software Engineer, you will be an integral part of a dynamic team of engineers focused on developing innovative web and mobile applications for the agriculture sector. You will design, implement, and maintain software solutions aimed at improving agricultural efficiency and sustainability. Your responsibilities will include collaborating on the full software development lifecycle, from concept and design to testing and deployment.

Responsibilities

• Develop highly scalable backend services (REST API).

• Design and implement customer-facing and internal frontend single page applications.

• Create multi-environment CI/CD pipelines for testing and deploying code.
• Integrate data sources and work with the data science team to deliver data products to customers.
• Design database schemas and robust inter-server communication.
• Identify and mitigate technical risks during development.
• Work with new and emerging technologies including JavaScript/TypeScript, NodeJS, React, React Native, AWS, Docker.

Requirements

• 6+ years of software development experience with multiple programming languages, technologies and frameworks.
• Proficiency in JavaScript and Typescript, with the ability to learn new languages and technologies quickly.
• Experience working with relational and NoSQL databases.
• Experience with software development life cycle: design, development, test, deployment, monitoring and operations.
• Experience building and operating CI/CD pipelines.
• Expertise and working knowledge of AWS.
• Highly self-motivated, keen learner able to solve challenging problems with creative solutions.
• Strong team player with demonstrated ability to take ownership and drive execution.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external teams to deliver capability to users.

Additional Desired Qualifications:

• Front-end development skills (React).
• Backend development skills (NodeJS, Express server).
• Experience taking software from conceptual stage to commercial product.
• Mobile development (React Native).
• DevOps experience (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience in Earth observation, AI, geospatial, imaging science, or computer vision fields.
