Job Description

Virgin Galactic is seeking a Specialist level Mechanical Engineer with a background in hardware integration and flight test instrumentation to support design on our next generation of spaceships
The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic avionics engineering team
This candidate will need to be a great communicator who works well with others and can lead from the front while working alongside their team to get projects completed
The scope of your role includes flight avionics hardware, wire harnesses, LRUs, and instrumentation.You will be creating innovative designs that meet our demanding requirements through prototyping, hands-on design, and working directly with technicians on the vehicle as a part of our standard practice
You will have the opportunity to collaborate and coordinate with multiple groups, including structural integrity, systems, structures, production control, and supply chain
Additional responsibilities and duties will also involve the following:Develop engineering drawings for parts, assemblies, and installations in 3DExperience & CATIA V5Develop process specifications and engineering standardsSupport production by producing rework/repair dispositionsMaintain Action Item List/Burndown list to present to Integrated Product teamsDevelop custom reports such as long lead items and discrepancy listsPerform trade studies of multiple solutions to present to program leadershipRequired Skills and ExperienceB.S
Engineering degree from an accredited university10+ years of relevant work experience within mechanical designRelevant mechanical design & manufacturing experience preferably focused on or within aerospaceExperience with 3D modeling & drafting in 3DExperience, Catia V5, or similar design packageExperience with material and part selectionExperience with interpreting electrical schematics and wiringExperience with vehicle instrumentation for flight test is a plusPreferred Skills and ExperienceExperience with composite vehicles is a plusExperience with schematics in Microsoft Visio is a plus#LI-DR1The annual U.S
base salary range for this full-time position is $132,100.00–$201,550.00
The base pay actually offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, location, and experience and take into account internal equity
Other forms of pay (e.g., bonus or long term incentive) may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered
