Job Description
Virgin Galactic is seeking a Senior Avionics Test Engineer to join our Avionics team. The ideal candidate will have at least 7 years of experience working with complex electro-mechanical systems in aerospace or a related field. We are looking for a generalist who will contribute to several roles in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Develop hardware-in-the-loop test equipment.
Troubleshoot test failures.
Support testing of Avionics systems and components across hardware and software including environmental qualification.
Write test plans and procedures.
Document design issues and work with engineering teams to resolve.
Support avionics production
Execute system checkouts on the integrated vehicle.
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, as appropriate, in coordination with the Avionics Test Engineering leadership team.
Required Skills and Experience
Bachelors of Engineering degree from an accredited university
7 or more years of relevant integration and testing experience in aerospace or similar field
Experience with embedded system hardware and software
Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and written communication skills
Experience with leading and mentoring Junior Engineers
Experience with component and system-level testing
Experience developing test benches
Experience documenting wiring schematics
LabVIEW and/or Python development skills
Experience with Environmental/Electrical Qualification standards such as RTCA-DO160, Mil-STD 461
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience with NI Veristand a plus
The annual U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $105,700.00-$161,200.00. The base pay actually offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, location, and experience and take into account internal equity. Other forms of pay (e.g., bonus or long term incentive) may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
