Maxar is looking for an enthusiastic Staff DevOps Engineer or Senior Staff DevOps Engineer to join our Data Intelligence team. We are looking for someone energetic and talented to further our mission of delivering a high-quality analytics environment and platform to enable successful data intelligence at Maxar. This position is hybrid with several days a week on-site with your colleagues in Westminster, CO.

Your Project: The Data Intelligence team owns and maintains a variety of infrastructure and services in AWS, including new full-stack data lake houses (commercial & government) intended to allow for more Maxar teams to build analytics solutions. Your primary focus will be to maintain and improve upon the data lake houses, with a secondary focus on the team’s existing AWS infrastructure.
What you’ll do day-to-day (with your colleagues):
- Support the deployment and management of solutions in AWS.
- Work and communicate with Maxar employees as well as external consultants.
- Follow and establish best practices for coding standards and software architecture.
- Responsible for the ‘ilities’: availability, scalability, maintainability, reliability, and securability of our tools and environments. We embrace SRE principles.
- Actively identify opportunities for improvement in our infrastructure and propose solutions to realize them.
- Collaborate with a team of skilled DevOps Engineers, Data Engineers, and Business Intelligence Developers.
Minimum requirements for this position:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related engineering field. 4 additional years of experience may be substituted for a degree.
- Minimum of 5 years related work experience for a Senior Software Engineer
- Minimum of 8 years related work experience for a Senior Staff Software Engineer
- Proficiency with Python, Java, Bash
- General understanding of key AWS services (e.g., EC2, S3, EKS, IAM, lambda)
- Prior experience with infrastructure-as-code, especially Terraform
- Prior experience with Kubernetes
- Prior experience with Helm
- Prior experience with Git
- Active U.S. Government security clearance
Preferred qualifications:
- Must be a U.S. citizen and be willing and able to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance.
- Prior experience with CI/CD technologies such as Jenkins
- Prior experience with any of the following: Trino/Starburst, dbt (core or cloud), Apache Superset, OpenMetadata, Apache Airflow, Tableau.
- Prior experience with RDS databases, or Postgres.
- Agile software development lifecycle experience
These skills would be amazing:
- Holds any AWS certification, or other cloud provider’s certifications.
- Success delivering and maintaining complex software systems in production environments.
- Experience automating infrastructure with zero downtime deployments.
- Intellectually curious, problem solver, never stops learning.
- Strong verbal, written, and organizational skills. Experience working directly with stakeholders.
- Self-starter with the ability to stay organized while balancing multiple priorities.
- Ability to apply critical thought to problems and come up with solutions that meet Maxar requirements.

Our salary ranges are market-driven and set to allow for flexibility. Individual pay will be competitive based on a candidate’s unique set of knowledge, skills, and geographic diversity, with earnings potential commensurate with experience. The range for this position is:
$119,000.00 – $199,000.00 annually.
Additionally, this position is incentive eligible with a target based on contribution, company performance, and/or individual results achieved; the specific incentive plan and target amount will be determined based on the role and breadth of contributions.
