Seeking solutions-oriented Systems Engineer to work in a SAFe Agile customer environment on a big data software project focused on unique and challenging problems for national security. The ideal candidate thrives on attention to detail, agile project management, testing, deployment, integration, and operation activities.

Note: US citizenship and an active TS/SCI clearance is mandatory for this position and required for consideration. Consideration to acquire CI Poly possible.

Location: Northern Virginia, Michigan, Colorado

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Support the process of building or documenting discovery and automation tools to enable geospatial and intelligence analysis of complex problems utilizing an array of data types and sources.

  • Provide technical input into full project lifecycle execution including: Agile lifecycle, ConOps, requirements development and definition, feature estimation, oversight of system design and developer implementation, systems integration, verification, and test (IVT), data interface integration, and operational support.

  • Document requirements and agile features and stories, focusing on clear descriptions, acceptance criteria, prioritization, and test/verification approaches and steps.

  • Adapt the SAFe Agile processes to meet our project requirements and collaboratively plan and execute our Sprint and Program Increments using Jira with our Agile Release Train.

  • Assess technical solutions provided by developers and provide recommendations to the team and government customer

  • Create enablers and communicate with multidisciplinary teams and articulate technical concepts and ideas effectively.

Skills Required

  • 5+ years of technical experience supporting custom software solutions for the intelligence community, geospatial context, and/or big data analytics

  • 2+ years using Jira with agile teams for planning for roadmaps, program increments, sprints, and burndown

  • Demonstrated proficiency with most of these skills: Jira, Confluence, Excel wizardry

  • Able to succinctly capture and communicate agile metrics, to include team and train velocity, lead times, and predictability using Jira report and Microsoft office tools

  • Orientation to detail

  • Self-starter who takes initiative and is quick to understand tasking.

  • Capable of working effectively with a geographically distributed ops & development team

  • Communicates effectively with customers and team in written and oral forums

  • Critical thinker with proven problem-solving skills

  • Must be flexible, organized, and understand the big picture but can focus on the mission-critical details

  • Willingness to work onsite 75% or as needs dictate

  • Willing to travel on occasion

  • Active TS/SCI clearance and US citizenship

Additional Skills Desired

Some familiarity in these areas would be fabulous.

  • Familiarity with common industry configuration management, software tools, concepts, and DevSecOps.

  • Agile mindset with experience or certifications with agile, scrum, kanban, SAFe, scrummaster techniques

  • Familiarity with concepts such as data visualization; data management, data integration, user interface, databases

  • Can work independently in a fast-paced dynamic environment, with factory reach-back support.

  • Experience as a military/intelligence analyst, supporting the military/IC, or knowledge of some IC PED systems is a plus!

  • Degree or equivalent demonstrated experience in a technical field such as Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or GIS

Our salary ranges are market-driven and set to allow for flexibility. Individual pay will be competitive based on a candidate’s unique set of knowledge, skills, and geographic diversity, with earnings potential commensurate with experience. The range for this position is:

$107,000.00 – $180,000.00 annually.
