DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work in a collaborative engineering team environment to produce spacecraft structures for a commercial human spaceflight module.
- Perform classical and FEA (linear/non-linear statics, modal, frequency response, random response, explicit and implicit transient) analyses of flight hardware and other systems.
- Perform detailed calculations to ensure structural integrity of hardware for failure modes, including but not limited to static, fatigue, fracture, buckling, stability, and creep.
- Perform detailed calculations to ensure structural integrity of mechanical joints such as welds and fasteners.
- Uses appropriate analysis techniques, simplifications, assumptions, and experience-based judgments, to solve complex problems.

Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, or related field required.
- 2-10 years of experience in structural or mechanical engineering, or similar role or combined equivalent.
- Experience with NX (Simcenter)/NASTRAN finite element modeling or equivalent.
- Experience with Fracture Mechanics and Damage Tolerance Analysis.
- Spaceflight hardware design background preferred.
- Experience with Atlassian suite preferred.
Essential Functions
Work Environment: Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.
Requirements
- Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
- Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised.
- Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.

Physical Requirements
- Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).
