Job Description
The Facilities Supervisor role is responsible to ensure that all buildings are operating properly, and vendor services are aligned with the Virgin Galactic’s strategic vision. The candidate will oversee the maintenance and operation of buildings, equipment, and grounds throughout the Mojave campus. They will ensure the accountability and stewardship of Virgin Galactic resources (operational, financial, and human) in compliance with departmental standards and procedures..
Job Responsibilities:
- Coordinate, monitor and perform preventive, predictive, and proactive maintenance and repairs of VG facilities.
- Establish work priorities, organize work schedules, and determine daily assignments so there is little adverse impact on daily operations.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and management of preventive maintenance requirements, maintenance manuals, and training.
- Monitor facility use to ensure conformance with policies and procedures.
- Ensure team and organizational compliance with all VG and OSHA policies.
- Preparing facilities for changing weather conditions
- Scheduling routine inspections and emergency repairs with outside vendors
- Manage key control program for the security of all general and master keys that service Mojave facility.
- Overtime and on-call hours for extended workdays and emergency situations.
- Other duties as required.
Basic Qualifications.
- Five years of progressively responsible experience in administration of facility maintenance or any satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Advanced mechanical and plumbing skills
- Knowledge of HVAC and other building systems
- Must have and be able to maintain a valid Driver’s License and a clean driving record.
- Sound ability to interpret printed or electronic maintenance manuals.
- Basic understanding of accounting and finance principles
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Ability to travel domestically to support operational needs.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Certified Facility Manager (CFM) credential, or equivalent.
- Strong systems mechanical background and show ability to learn and become proficient on new and/or customized equipment.
- Good oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of management.
- Displays sound judgment, with the ability to make accurate and timely decisions.
- Must possess strong motivational, organizational, interpersonal and computer skills.
- Familiarity with sustainability, green initiatives and/or LEED programs.
Supervision:
- Normally receives little instruction on daily work, general instructions on newly introduced assignments.
- Work is completed within a manufacturing environment. There may be periodic exposure to moderate temperature changes. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The physical demands described above are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
EFFORT REQUIRED:
Physical Activities:
- Must be able to work all shifts and available for overtime as well as weekends when needed.
- Must be able to travel 25% or more of the time and/or be on call as needed.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods – 8 hours min.
- Must be able to stoop, bend, crawl, and being able to maneuver in tight spaces- 3+ hours min.
- Physically able to handle items weighing up to 40lbs (unassisted).
The annual U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $70,400.00–$107,300.00. The base pay actually offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, location, and experience and take into account internal equity. Other forms of pay (e.g., bonus or long term incentive) may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
