Summary

The incumbent serves as the Deputy Chief of the Mission Operations Branch in the Space Medicine Operations Division and is responsible for planning, guiding, coordinating, and managing the work of subordinate, secondary, and matrixed resources engaged in conducting human spaceflight operations for a variety of program customers including International Space Station, Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, Commercial Crew, Gateway, and Human Landing System, and Human Research Program.

In addition to the Basic Education Requirement (in the Education section below), to qualify for this position you must meet the requirements below. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. NASA utilizes OPM-approved qualification and rating requirements specific for Aerospace Technology (AST) positions which recognizes NASA’s unique aerospace work. The specific qualifications and minimum education requirements are further described below and within the education section of the job announcement. To qualify for GS-14, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level: Leading a team in human spaceflight operations; Developing or executing financial and planning processes such as: procurement; task order agreements; Planning, Programming, Budgeting and Execution (PPBE); Memorandums of Understanding (MOU) and Space Act Agreements; Providing technical advice or management on human spaceflight program integration or development that impact at least one of the following: addressing critical timelines, technical risk, resource allocation, compatibility of systems and subsystems, and project performance.
