Summary

NASA is seeking Communication Directors at various locations. The scope of the agency’s communications entails a broad, diverse, and integrated set of efforts including news and media engagement, digital communications and products (including web, television, video, photography, and social media), non-technical publications, exhibits, as well as speaking and public engagement activities and events.

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. To qualify for GS-15, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level: Planning and managing a major outreach program, with expertise in strategic messaging, client management, internal communications, community relations and public engagement; Developing detailed plans, tasks, milestone dates, and schedules to ensure proper sequencing of events and tracking of processes and costs throughout the life cycle of a program/project; Planning a diversified program of public information, using the mass media as well as other facets of communications such as public speaking and personal contacts; Managing and directing subordinate employees in the implementation of a media relations program at a highly professional level.
